CASA 98Q / LOFT ITZIMNA
Contemporary loft in a quiet and tree-lined street in the traditional neighborhood of Itzimná in Mérida. Designed to be a cool yet illuminated home taking advantage of gardens views of stately homes to the north and orange trees to the south. A fundamental part of the remodeling was preserving the character and history of the original house (such as its large mirrors from when it was a dance school or its traditional handmade pasta floors, or its doors with blacksmith flowers, or its old hamaqueros) At the same time to endow it with much greater spatiality with a double height and zenithal light that reinforce its personality. They created ample terrace to the north and south to be able to enjoy the views and afternoon breezes hanging in hammocks. White polished concrete floors were chosen: a practical, fresh and contemporary option that surrounds the traditional floors of pasta reinterpreting the Yucatecan style. Designed in every detail to be a functional, practical, comfortable house with a special character.
